Hello All!
This has been a pretty decent week. Last Monday was really relaxing. Full of letters and emails. It was good. We also went to see Christmas Lights for FHE with some members.
Tuesday we had two lessons about Christmas and shared He Is The Gift with a couple of less actives. It was really fun. One that we visited, Emily, she doesn't have a strong Christian background so it was fun to share the Christmas story with her! And we invited her to church to learn more about Christmas and SHE CAME!! We were so excited! It was great!
Wednesday we did service at the Food Pantry and then saw another Less Active. She's pretty lonely and has been sick recently. So it was nice to visit with her. We had a good dinner at the C's too. They were the last Ward Mission Leader and they said they're going through withdrawals! They're awesome! They then went to see the Hobbit. C. worked on the music for it so he's excited to hear it all together. He's worked on the other Hobbit's too. Pretty awesome! We have a lot of people who work in the movies in this ward. Set designers for big movies like Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Costume designers, script writers, yo gabba gabba director, composers. Lots of people!
Thursday was good! We went on exchanges after district meeting. Sister B. stayed here with Sister R. and I went to South Pasadena with Sister A. We dropped Sister R. and B. off at our apartment and we all had lunch together then took them to their area and then by the time we go back to South Pas it was time for dinner so we ate then went out and we contacted lots of people waiting for the bus by singing them Christmas songs with the ukulele. Sister A. taught me a new song! Sadly I forgot what Sister M. taught me. It was fun! Then we went caroling with some members to their neighbors houses and they introduced us to them. It was great! Lots of fun! It was a great exchange!
Friday was good! Sister A. helped me with a lot of things I've been struggling with and helped me think of ways I can help Sister B. and our area! It was perfect! Then we went tree hunting! I wanted to surprise Sister B. with a Christmas Tree so we went to three stores to find one and finally we did! It's a fake 4 foot tree but it's beautiful! We named him Ted Tinsel! It was fun to decorate it and nice to come home to! We also got lights to decorate our apartment! And the sisters gave us cinnamon pine cones! YUM! We had weekly planning then did some finding in the evening.
Saturday was great!! It was our Mission Christmas Devotional which wasn't supposed to be a party but was totally a party! It was great. We started in the chapel and Sister Villanueva then President talked to us. Then they opened it up for an hour and a half for missionaries to bear their testimonies. It was nice. Then we had lunch and then we had the Nativity program. Each Zone was asked to prepare a Christmas Hymn. We went first and sang I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day. It started with Sister B. singing a solo then I sang with a small ground the second verse then we all sang the first verse in Chinese then the elders sang the third voice really low then the sisters sang the fourth verse sweetly and then we all sang the last verse and the piano played bells. It was fun! There were some good songs! I'll send the video of one zone. They made up the arrangement I'm pretty sure cause the elder who did the piano made it up a few days before and he doesn't read music but he can play amazing songs! THEN! PINATAS! It was so fun!! President took a hit! I'll send that video too! It was so fun! Then we got dropped off at the church in hopes of lessons there but those fell through. We went on a silent self guided church tour cause Sister B. was having a hard day. the spirit was strong. Especially when we were in the chapel by ourselves. She got up and started singing hymns. Answered some of my prayers and helped me feel the spirit strongly! It was great. Exactly what we both needed to refocus!
Sunday was great! We sang in the ward choir at our Christmas program and Sister B. had the solo. She did a lovely job! She has such an amazing voice! It was fun to sing in the choir. The pieces we sang were beautiful! Then we taught gospel principals. We did the Christmas story intertwined with hymns! Then after church we went to a lesson with G. and S. came with us. She just got back from her mission from Japan and it was perfect! G. doesn't have much of a Christian background and she did awesome and helping with that because in Japan they start from level 0 with people! He was just about to drop us and then she taught so simply! She taught the restoration, gospel of Jesus Christ, and bits of the Plan of Salvation in 5 minutes! no joke! She's coming to our companion study tomorrow to teach us! We're so excited! Then we went to dinner and while waiting for our ride at the church I dropped my ipad and the screen cracked so bad! I feel awful! But I guess I just turn it in and they'll give me a new one to use. I didn't even think it hit the ground that hard but it did. Then after dinner we had an awesome church tour with J. and M.! We had a newlywed couple from the ward join us and it was perfect! The spirit was so strong in the Chapel as we took a few minutes to sit in silence. It was awesome! So inspired! That is what a missionary day is like! It was great to teach! We haven't been getting too many lessons recently. So it was awesome.
I love you all and I wish you a Merry Christmas! Remember why we are celebrating. It really wouldn't be Christmas without Christ! I know Christ lives and that He loves us. He was born to save the world from their sins. He was born to fulfill the Atonement for us that we may overcome the effects of the Fall. I am so thankful for my Savior and all that He has done for me! Share this with those around you and help them remember the true meaning of Christmas! I love you all!
Love, Sister Riches
